RJD Leader Rajkumar Rai Shot Dead By Bike-Borne Assailants In Patna

In a shocking incident, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rajkumar Rai, also known as Allah Rai, was fatally shot in Patna's Munna Chak area. The attack occurred under the jurisdiction of Chitragupt Nagar police station. SP (East) Parichay Kumar reported that Rai was ambushed and killed by assailants who had been pursuing him.

According to the police, Rai, originally from Vaishali Raghopur but residing in Munna Chak, had just returned from an outing. He stopped to buy food near his home when he was attacked. "The deceased, a resident of Vaishali Raghopur, currently lived in Munna Chak, had returned from some work in a four-wheeler and started buying some food items from a hotel in the street just before his house, when the criminals fired six bullets at him, due to which he fell on the ground," stated Parichay Kumar.

Investigation Underway

The police were quick to respond to the scene of the crime. The Chitragupt Nagar police station is located just steps away from where the incident took place. Despite their swift arrival, Rai succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at PMCH Hospital.

CCTV footage from the vicinity has provided crucial evidence for investigators. It captured two attackers involved in this heinous act. SP (East) Parichay Kumar confirmed that six bullet shells were recovered from the site.

Political and Business Ties

Rai's involvement with a political party and land-related business ventures are being considered as potential motives behind this attack. The incident unfolded around 10 p.m., adding another layer of complexity to the investigation.

A team comprising Eastern SP Parichay Kumar, ASP Sadar Shri Abhinav, Kankarbagh police station in-charge Abhay Kumar, and Chitragupt Nagar police station in-charge is actively probing the case. Their efforts are focused on uncovering further details about this tragic event.
