Rajasthan Tragedy: 3-Year-Old Girl Dies After 10 Days Trapped In Borewell
Rajasthan Tragedy: In a heartbreaking incident that has left Rajasthan in shock, three-year-old Chetna tragically passed away after being stuck in a deep borewell for 10 days.
The young girl fell into the 700-foot borewell in Kotputli on December 23, and despite intense rescue efforts, she was declared dead on January 1, 2025, after being pulled out.

The Race Against Time: 3-Year-Old Girl Dies
Chetna's ordeal began when she tumbled into the borewell while playing near her home. Her family heard her screams and rushed to find her trapped in the narrow shaft. Rescue teams, including national and state Disaster Relief Forces, worked tirelessly to free her. But delays, technical challenges, and severe weather conditions made the rescue a race against time. Despite using a massive crane and digging machines, the operation faced setback after setback.
Rajasthan Tragedy: Rescue Efforts and the Bitter Reality
The effort to save Chetna was nothing short of a struggle. As days passed, the ground became wet and slippery, making it difficult to access the girl. While oxygen was pumped through a pipe, Chetna's health deteriorated rapidly as food and proper supplies couldn't be provided in time. On January 1, she was finally pulled from the borewell, but tragically, her condition had worsened beyond hope.
A Mother's Heartbreaking Plea
In the midst of the chaos, Chetna's mother, Dhole Devi, voiced her pain and frustration, accusing local officials of delaying the rescue operation. She had pleaded for her daughter's quick rescue, but her cries went unheard. As the reality of the loss set in, the family and locals began to demand accountability for the failures in the response.
An Ongoing Investigation
As the community mourns, authorities are conducting a post-mortem and looking into the delays in the rescue operation. This tragedy has sparked a conversation about improving rescue protocols and response times, particularly in rural areas where such incidents seem to take too long to resolve. Could this heartbreaking incident have been avoided? Investigations continue as Rajasthan seeks answers for this young life lost too soon.
