Rahul Gandhi's Bold Claim In Lok Sabha: Who Are The 6 People Controlling The Lotus Chakravyuh?

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused the BJP-led Central government of forming a Chakravyuh (an impregnable war formation mentioned in the Mahabharat) around the youth, farmers, women, and small businesses.

Addressing the House, the Congress leader claimed that six people were at the center of what he termed the "Lotus formation" - Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Ajit Doval, Mukesh Ambani, and Gautam Adani, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Here's What Gandhi Said

On Monday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, accused the BJP-led Central government of creating a "Chakravyuh" (an impregnable war formation from the Mahabharata) around the youth, farmers, women, and small businesses. Addressing the House, the Congress leader alleged that six key figures were at the center of what he termed the "Lotus formation" - Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Ajit Doval, Mukesh Ambani, and Gautam Adani, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Gandhi drew a parallel between the ancient story of Abhimanyu, who was trapped and killed in a Chakravyuh in Kurukshetra, and the current situation in India. "I did some research and discovered that 'Chakravyuh' is also known as 'Padmavyuh' - which means 'Lotus formation'. The Prime Minister wears its symbol on his chest. What was done with Abhimanyu is being done with India - the youth, farmers, women, small and medium businesses. Today, six people are at the center of 'Chakravyuh'... Six people control it today too - Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Ajit Doval, Ambani, and Adani," Gandhi said.

When Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla intervened, Gandhi quipped: "If you want, I will omit the names of NSA, Ambani, and Adani, and take just 3 names."

Three Forces Behind the "Chakravyuh"

Gandhi elaborated on his allegations, stating that three main forces were behind the "Chakravyuh":

1. The idea of monopoly capital, where two people are allowed to own the entire Indian wealth, resulting from the concentration of financial power.
2. National institutions and agencies like the CBI, ED, and IT.
3. The political executive.

These three forces, according to Gandhi, have devastated the country by creating a framework of monopoly and destroying the democratic structure.

Criticism of the Union Budget

Rahul Gandhi lambasted the Central government over the Union Budget, claiming its sole aim was to strengthen the framework of monopoly, as per media reports.

"I expected that this Budget would weaken the power of this 'Chakravyuh', that this Budget would help the farmers, the youth, the laborers, and small businesses of this country. But the sole aim of this Budget is to strengthen the frameworks of monopoly business, a political monopoly that destroys the democratic structure, and the deep state and the agencies. The result has been the attack on those who gave employment to India - small and medium businesses - through demonetization, GST, and tax terrorism," he added.

Promise of Guaranteed Legal MSP

Rahul Gandhi promised that the INDIA bloc would pass the bill guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) in the House. "I want to tell the farmers of the country that we will do what they (NDA) have not done. We will pass (the bill for) guaranteed legal MSP in this House. Before this Budget, the middle class used to support PM Modi. On his orders, the middle class banged 'thalis' during Covid. Now with this Budget, you have stabbed the same middle class in the back and chest," he said.
