Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Takes Punjab's 'Mission Investment' Drive To Japan and South Korea

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is visiting South Korea under the 'Mission Investment' drive, aiming to draw fresh capital to the state. The two-day South Korea leg forms part of a 10-day foreign tour focused on industry, jobs and long-term economic ties for Punjab.

Before reaching Seoul, Bhagwant Singh Mann travelled to Japan, where a roadshow highlighted Punjab’s potential for global investors. Japanese companies showed strong interest in setting up units in the state, and several memorandums of understanding were signed, signalling concrete follow-up to those early talks.

Punjab CM South Korea visit and global investment outreach

During the Punjab CM South Korea visit, Bhagwant Singh Mann met India’s Ambassador to South Korea, Gaorangalal Das, in Seoul. Businessperson Sanjeev Gupta and senior Punjab officials are part of the delegation. Discussions are covering manufacturing, technology partnerships and new industrial zones, with a clear focus on creating employment for Punjab’s youth.

The state government has already used the 'Invest Punjab' platform to secure more than ₹1.4 lakh crore in on-ground investment. Established names, including Tata Steel, have already put money into projects in Punjab. Officials say the priority is now to widen the investor base and deepen existing partnerships, while keeping clear rules and quick decisions at the centre of policy.

Punjab CM South Korea visit and Progressive Punjab summit

The delegation is also preparing for the 'Progress Punjab Business Summit', which the Punjab government will host in March next year. Officials are contacting Indian and foreign companies for participation. Talks in South Korea are expected to feed into that summit agenda, especially on advanced manufacturing, green projects and long-term collaborative ventures.

Bhagwant Singh Mann has linked the Punjab CM South Korea visit with a wider plan to give investors certainty and youth better prospects. Bhagwant Singh Mann has stated that the objective is to provide a stable and reliable environment for investors in Punjab, while opening fresh employment avenues for young people.
