Priyanka Gandhi Hospitalised, Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra In UP's Chandauli Put On Hold

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been hospitalised due to illness, leading to her absence from the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, scheduled for today (February 16). In a statement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), she expressed her regret for not being able to join the yatra immediately and assured that she would join as soon as she recovers.

Priyanka, in an X post said,"I was eagerly waiting for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra to reach Uttar Pradesh, but due to illness I had to be admitted to the hospital today itself. I will join the journey as soon as I feel better. Till then, I wish all the passengers reaching Chandauli-Banaras, my colleagues and dear brother from Uttar Pradesh who are diligently preparing for the journey".

The yatra, which commenced on February 6, is scheduled to enter Uttar Pradesh through Varanasi on February 16, passing through Amethi on February 19 via Bhadohi, Prayagraj, and Pratapgarh.

On February 19, Rahul Gandhi is expected to address a public meeting at Gauriganj in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency. The yatra will then proceed to Raebareli, the sole Lok Sabha seat held by the Congress in UP, currently represented by Sonia Gandhi. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Rahul Gandhi lost the Amethi seat to Union minister Smriti Irani.

The yatra's itinerary includes Unnao on February 21, entering Kanpur via Unnao city and Shuklaganj, then proceeding to Jhansi via Kanpur and Hamirpur before entering Madhya Pradesh on the same day.

Initially planned to stay in Uttar Pradesh until February 26, the yatra was set to reach Bareilly from Lucknow, continuing to Aligarh and Agra before entering Rajasthan, as per the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra website.
