Prayagraj Residents Urge Mahakumbh Pilgrims To Stop Visiting Town: 'For The Love Of God, Don't Come'

As the ever-growing Mahakumbh crowd continues to swell, disrupting the daily lives of Prayagraj residents, a local has publicly urged visitors to stop coming to the city.

In a post on Reddit, a resident claimed that Prayagraj has reached its "breaking point" due to the overwhelming number of tourists, making it increasingly difficult for locals to go about their everyday routines.

Don t Visit Kumbh Prayagraj Residents

The user described how the city underwent significant transformations over the past year as part of the Mahakumbh preparations, with new roads, flyovers, and improved traffic management. However, the excitement of hosting such a grand event has now given way to sheer exhaustion.

"Now it's 19th February. The last Amrit Snan is already done. We are literally in the ending phase of Mahakumbh. So, why the h*ll is the crowd only increasing instead of decreasing?" he wrote.

He detailed the worsening conditions in the city, highlighting congested highways, overcrowded public transport, and even the narrowest lanes packed with people and vehicles.

Recalling a particularly frustrating experience, the user expressed outrage at locals being blamed for the congestion. "The worst part? We locals are being blamed. Yesterday, I thought, 'Chalo, jo bacha-kucha hai, ghoom lete hain. (Let's roam the rest of the city)' Biggest mistake. I took my vehicle out, only to be stopped by random strangers yelling at me, saying 'Aap logon ki wajah se jam lag raha hai!' (There is a traffic congestion because of you) Bruh, we live here."

He ended his post with a desperate appeal, urging devotees to postpone their visits. "Please, for the love of God, STOP COMING. Ganga ji aur Sangam kahin nahi ja rahe. (The Ganga and Sangam are not going anywhere). You can come peacefully later. Have some mercy on this city and its people. We are begging you," he wrote.

The post also criticised the lack of civic etiquette among visitors, accusing them of spitting and littering in public spaces, while the influx of vehicles worsened the already chaotic traffic.

The Maha Kumbh, the world's largest religious gathering, commenced on 13th January and is set to conclude on 26th February.

Prayagraj is EXHAUSTED! Locals are DONE with the Mahakumbh crowd😮‍💨🙏🏻😭
