Prasar Bharati has introduced its new OTT platform, 'WAVES', offering a blend of classic and modern content. This platform features beloved shows like Ramayan and Mahabharat, alongside contemporary programming. WAVES is available in over 12 languages, including Hindi, English, and Bengali. It also provides live events such as the US Premier League Cricket Tournament.
WAVES: A Diverse Content Hub
The WAVES platform offers a wide range of content, including news, documentaries, and regional programming. It supports video on demand, radio streaming, and live TV with 65 channels. Users can also enjoy free-to-play games and online shopping through an e-commerce platform supported by Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

WAVES collaborates with content creators like Kamiya Jani and RJ Raunac. It also showcases student films from institutions like FTII and Annapurna Film School. The platform aligns with the 55th International Film Festival of India's focus on young filmmakers by screening works such as 'Roll No.52' from Annapurna Film Studio.

The platform will feature 'Fauji 2.0', a modern take on Shahrukh Khan's iconic show from the 1980s. Other offerings include Guneet Monga Kapoor's 'Kicking Balls', crime thriller 'Jackson Halt', and 'Jaiye Aap Kahan Jayenge'. WAVES will also stream live events like Prabhu Shriram Lalla Aarti from Ayodhya.
A cyber security awareness campaign will be launched on WAVES in collaboration with CDAC and MeitY. This initiative includes daily video messages and programmes such as 'Cyber Crime ki Duniya' and 'Cyber Alert' by DD News to educate viewers about online safety.
Expanding Reach with Diverse Genres
WAVES includes various genres like family dramas, thrillers, music reality shows, and women-centric films. Notable titles are 'Bhed Bharam', 'Thode Door Thode Paas', and Kailash Kher's 'Bharat ka Amrit Kalash'. Animation favourites like Chota Bheem and Akbar Birbal are also part of the lineup.
The platform hosts live channels from Doordarshan, Akashvani, and private networks across categories such as news, entertainment, music, sports, and devotional content. Central Government Ministries are collaborating to provide docudramas and reality shows that convey meaningful messages.
Collaborations for Enriched Content
Prasar Bharati is working with state governments to develop diverse content formats for WAVES. This includes docudramas on significant topics like the Supreme Court of India's 75th anniversary. The Information Ministry contributes rare archival materials like historical photos and journals.
With its extensive library of nostalgic classics combined with fresh programming, WAVES aims to connect audiences emotionally while embracing digital trends. The platform's diverse offerings cater to varied tastes across India’s vast cultural landscape.
WAVES promises a rich viewing experience by blending traditional favourites with innovative new content across multiple genres in numerous languages.
