Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to spend 45 hours at Kanniyakumari's renowned Vivekananda Rock Memorial on Thursday. He will engage in meditation at the site dedicated to the revered Hindu saint, Swami Vivekananda.

Extensive security measures have been put in place for PM's visit, including a deployment of 2,000 police personnel and various security agencies maintaining vigilance. This event comes five years after Modi's similar meditation retreat in a Kedarnath cave following the 2019 election campaign.

Modi's meditation at the Rock Memorial will take place after the conclusion of the Lok Sabha election campaign on May 30, according to BJP leaders. He will meditate from the evening of May 30 to the evening of June 1 at the Dhyan Mandapam, a place where Vivekananda is believed to have had a divine vision of 'Bharat Mata'.

Security preps have been intensified for the VVIP visit. Pravesh Kumar, the DIG of Tirunelveli range, along with superintendent of police E Sundaravathanam, inspected the security arrangements at various locations, including the Rock Memorial, boat jetty, helipad, and the state guest house in Kanniyakumari. Modi's core security team has already arrived at the venue, and a helicopter landing trial has been conducted at the helipad.

Approximately 2,000 police officers will be stationed in and around Kanniyakumari, a popular international tourist destination. The area's attractions include the Sri Bhagavathy Amman temple near the tri-sea confluence of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea, the Tiruvalluvar statue, and a pristine beach.

The Kanniyakumari district administration's official website describes the rock as the legendary site where Goddess Kanniyakumari meditated. According to Modi's tentative schedule, he is expected to reach the coastal late in the afternoon on May 30 for his spiritual retreat, proceeding to the memorial shortly thereafter. He plans to stay at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial until 3 pm on June 1, the day of the seventh and final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

During the PM's 45-hour meditation period, coastal security will be heightened with the Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy maintaining vigilance along the marine borders. BJP officials have indicated that Modi's choice of this location for his spiritual retreat highlights his dedication to realising Swami Vivekananda's vision for India.

PM Modi has expressed confidence in securing a third term in office, with the votes to be counted on June 4. The final phase of polling is set for June 1, with campaigning concluding two days prior.

A BJP leader noted that Modi's visit to Kanniyakumari sends a message of national unity and demonstrates his deep commitment and affection for Tamil Nadu, especially significant as the visit occurs after the elections. Earlier this year, Modi made several visits to Tamil Nadu, combining official duties with visits to sites of religious importance, including Dhanushkodi, which is linked to the Ramayana.
