PM Modi In Bengal: Condemns Sandeshkhali Incident, Blames Mamata And INDIA Bloc
Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued strong criticism against the Trinamool Congress and other alliance parties of the INDIA bloc regarding the Sandeshkhali case, on Friday.
In this case, several women alleged sexual harassment by Trinamool strongman Sheikh Shahjahan, who was arrested on Thursday after being on the run for about 50 days. This marks the first instance where Narendra Modi has addressed the ongoing Sandeshkhali issue, which has been raging since January 5.

Modi's Remarks on Trinamool's Actions
"The country is witnessing the actions of the Trinamool Congress towards the women of Sandeshkhali. The entire nation is enraged. The soul of Raja Ram Mohan Roy must have been deeply pained by what transpired in Sandeshkhali...the party was shielding the TMC leader, and the police had to arrest him yesterday after pressure was exerted by BJP leaders on the government," stated PM Modi, as reported By Hindustan Times.
Attack on Trinamool's Slogan
Modi criticized the Trinamool over its slogan 'ma mati manush' (mother, soil, people), suggesting that Raja Rammohan Roy's soul would be distressed by the plight of women in Bengal. He highlighted a Trinamool leader who allegedly crossed all limits, implying that Mamata Banerjee's administration protected him. Modi credited BJP leaders for pressuring the government, leading to the arrest of the accused.
Appeal to the People of West Bengal
"This TMC criminal was in hiding for two months under TMC rule. Someone must have been sheltering him. Will you ever forgive this? Won't you seek revenge for what happened to the mothers and sisters?" Modi questioned.
Critique of Mallikarjun Kharge's Comment
Modi criticized Mallikarjun Kharge's remark on the Sandeshkhali case, where Kharge suggested that such incidents are commonplace in Bengal. Modi interpreted this as an insult to Bengal's culture and tradition, and he accused the INDIA bloc of shielding corrupt individuals. He also pointed out the massive amounts of money found in TMC leaders' homes, insinuating rampant corruption within the party, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Modi's remarks underscored his condemnation of the alleged mishandling of the Sandeshkhali case by the Trinamool Congress and the INDIA bloc's perceived indifference towards the issue.
