PM Modi Govt Calls For All Party Meet Ahead Of Budget Session

Ahead of the Parliament's Budget session slated from January 31 to February 9, the Narendra Modi government on Tuesday has called an all-party meet. Though, it is going to be an interim budget session (for 3 months only) as India goes to Lok Sabha Elections this year. Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi has urged respected members of the house to attend the meeting to seek cooperation and support on govenment's agendas.

The all-party meeting is a customary practice ahead of the Budget sesssion that allows other members to shed their views on how India can become economically strong, and share the agendas on which they want to speak in the Parliament.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the interim budget on February 1. It is expected that she may allow more rebate in tax slab and raze GST on many items as this will be a big chance to woo common man ahead of the Lok Sabha elctions 2024.

The full budget will be tabled in the parliament after Lok Sabha Elections 2024 for the rest three quarters of the fiscal year 2024-25.

President Droupadi Murmu's will commence the Budget session with her address.

Earlier this week, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman participated in the traditional Halwa cooking ceremony, a customary observance preceding the annual budget presentation. This ritual signifies the start of a 'lock-in' period for officials, marking the initiation of the printing process for various documents related to the budget.
