Omar Abdullah Oath Taking Ceremony As J&K CM: Where To Watch It Live Online?

Omar Abdullah, the vice president of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, will take oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. Along with Abdullah, a few others will also take oath as ministers which will be administered by J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

In the recently-concluded polls, the Congress-National Conference alliance emerged victorious, winning 48 seats, with the National Conference (NC) securing 42 seats and Congress winning six.

This will be the first elected government in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 and the reorganization of the former state into two Union Territories.

After the BJP withdrew support from the coalition government led by Mehbooba Mufti's People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 2018, Jammu and Kashmir were under presidential rule. It was only lifted after the conclusion of the polls, recently.

In an invitation letter shared by Omar Abdullah on X, LG Manoj Sinha mentioned receiving a letter from Farooq Abdullah, President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, confirming Omar's unanimous election as Leader of the Legislature Party. LG Sinha expressed his best wishes for Omar's tenure, stating that the oath of office and secrecy will be administered on October 16, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at SKICC.

Omar had earlier served as Chief Minister of the erstwhile state from 2009 to 2015. He was also Union Minister of State for External Affairs in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's NDA government from 2001 to 2002.
