Odisha: Tailor's Tag On Blood-Stained Shirt Helps Police Solve Murder Case
A blood-stained shirt bearing a tag from a Gujarat-based tailor played a crucial role in solving a murder case in Odisha. On December 13, Cuttack police discovered the body of a 35-year-old woman near the Kathjodi river. Despite tattoos on her hands, she remained unidentified, and no complaints were filed regarding her disappearance.
Nearby, police found a chopper and blood-stained clothing with tags from 'New Star Tailors.' Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena mentioned that they initially focused on this clue. They checked around ten tailors in Odisha with similar names but found no matches. A tailor in Ganjam district suggested such tags were used in Gujarat.

Key Clues from Gujarat
Following this lead, the Gujarat police identified the tailor using the number '3833' on the tag. The tailor confirmed that he had stitched the shirt for someone named 'Babu.' This information was pivotal in advancing the investigation.
The tailor also made a Rs 100 transfer to an e-wallet linked to a mobile number. This transaction provided another significant lead, as it was traced back to Babu's friend. This connection helped police gather more details about Babu's identity.
Unraveling the Identity
Babu was identified as Jaganath Duhuri, also known as Babu or Bapi, from Kendrapada. He was travelling back to Surat by train when authorities apprehended him near Rayagada. Further interrogation revealed his involvement in the crime.
Babu confessed that he committed the murder with his brother Balaram Duhuri and cousin Hapi Duhuri. It emerged that Balaram was married to the deceased woman, and their ongoing marital disputes motivated the crime.
The Arrests and Motive
Police arrested all three individuals involved in the murder. The investigation highlighted that chronic marital issues between Balaram and his wife led to this tragic incident. The case underscores how small clues can unravel complex mysteries.
This case exemplifies how meticulous investigation and collaboration between states can solve even the most challenging cases. By piecing together seemingly minor details, law enforcement successfully brought justice to light.
