Noida Police Bust Gang of Burglars Involved in Two Dozen Thefts

The Noida police have arrested seven people and claim to have busted a gang of burglars involved in around two dozen cases of theft. The gang worked in the guise of scrap dealers to recce to target vulnerable houses and shops, while a couple of members also worked as taxi drivers.

In a major breakthrough, the Noida Police have arrested seven members of a gang of burglars involved in around two dozen cases of theft. The gang, which worked in the guise of scrap dealers, would recce vulnerable houses and shops during the day and strike at them during the night.

Modus Operandi

According to the police, the gang members would roam around as scrap dealers during the day to identify vulnerable homes and shops. They would then strike at them during the night, decamping with valuable items. The gang also used illegal firearms and other weapons during burglary attempts and have often assaulted people during work if faced with resistance.

Arrests

The seven arrested gang members have been identified as Monu alias Mohsin (35), Mohammad Hafeez alias Bengali (27), Rupesh Kumar (25), Nadeem (24), Ashish (24), Satyam Rai (22), and Yogesh Gupta alias Sonu (27). One more person associated with the gang has been identified but is at large.

Stolen Items

According to the police, most of the stolen items were sold by the gang to a scrap dealer in Shaheen Bagh area of Delhi. The police have recovered a large number of stolen items from the gang, including laptops, mobile phones, and jewelry.

Previous Cases

The gang members faced a combined number of 24 cases registered against them at different police stations in Noida and Greater Noida. A fresh FIR has been lodged against them at the Sector 113 police station.

Legal Proceedings

The police have said that further legal proceedings are underway. The arrested gang members will be produced in court and remanded to judicial custody. The police are also on the lookout for the remaining member of the gang who is still at large.

The Noida Police have lauded the efforts of the Sector 113 police station officials in busting the gang. The police have also appealed to the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
