No Lunch Break Today, Work On Weekend: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Takes Bold Decisions To Run House

The speaker of Lok Sabha Om Birla, who holds the highest chair in the house and is responsible for proceedings, on Wednesday decided not to allow a lunch break for all Members of the Parliament. The decision was to recover time lost in recent days due to frequent rucks and adjournments of the house. The Opposition has been continuously protesting and demanding discussion over the Adani indictment, and violence in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal.

"Today, there will be no lunch break in the House so that the time lost in adjournments can be compensated to some extent," stated Speaker Birla. His decision reflects an effort to ensure that parliamentary business proceeds without further delays.

Work On Weekend

To compensate of the time lost in the proceedings of the house, Speaker Birla suggested potential weekend sessions, if members of the house continue disrupting the discussions. "The House will convene on Saturday, December 14 at 11 am. If you continue with adjournments, then for the number of days it has been adjourned, you will have to attend the proceedings on Saturday and Sunday as well," he announced following the Question Hour.

The Speaker's firm stance highlights his commitment to maintaining productivity within the House. By potentially extending sessions into weekends, he aims to ensure that legislative duties are fulfilled despite ongoing interruptions.

This approach underscores the importance of uninterrupted parliamentary sessions for addressing national issues effectively. The Speaker's actions reflect a broader effort to uphold the integrity and efficiency of legislative processes amidst political challenges.
