No-Confidence Motion: Rahul Gandhi Set To Initiate Opposition Debate Today; Fiery Discussion Expected In LS

Lively Debate Expected in Lok Sabha

Starting today, the Lok Sabha is preparing for a passionate debate revolving around the no-confidence motion aimed at the government led by the BJP. Gaurav Gogoi, Congress' deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, put forth the motion, which holds the third position on the List of Business.

This discussion takes place against the backdrop of ethnic tensions in Manipur, which have led to significant disruptions in both houses of Parliament. Alongside Gandhi's involvement, Congress representatives like Manish Tewari and Depak Baij are expected to share their viewpoints during the debate.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to provide his response to the debate on Thursday, a pivotal juncture in the proceedings. Despite the government's numerical advantage, the opposition seeks to demonstrate its newly consolidated unity in addressing the BJP led by Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress Chief, expressed unwavering confidence that Rahul Gandhi will indeed address the no-confidence motion, underscoring the party's dedication to the issue. "Jaroor bolenge (he will certainly speak)," stated Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge while interacting with reporters on Monday.

Following a four-month disqualification, Gandhi's reentry into the Lok Sabha was facilitated on Monday, as the Supreme Court temporarily suspended his conviction in a defamation case. This development reinstated his membership in the Lower House.
