Nitish Kumar's NDA to Take Charge in Bihar, Oath Ceremony Likely on November 19-20

The formation of the new Bihar government is expected within the next three days, with preparations underway for the oath-taking ceremony.

According to sources, the event is likely to take place on either November 19 or 20, and the final confirmation will be based on the availability of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The NDA has returned to power with an overwhelming mandate, significantly improving upon its previous performance in 2020.

NDA Achieves Strong Majority in the Assembly

The NDA secured 202 seats out of 243, marking a decisive victory in the state. The BJP won 89 seats, while Nitish Kumar led Janata Dal United bagged 85. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) headed by Union Minister Chirag Paswan won 19 seats, Hindustani Awam Morcha led by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi secured five seats, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha of Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha added four more.

Opposition Faces Major Setback

The Mahagathbandhan bloc, led by the RJD, managed only 35 seats. The RJD itself won just 25 seats, marking its second poorest performance since 2010. Congress secured six seats compared to 19 in the previous election. CPI ML won two seats, CPI M won one, while CPI failed to win any.

Other Parties and Voter Participation

AIMIM, led by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, secured five seats. Mukesh Sahani led Vikassheel Insaan Party failed to win any. Bihar voted across two phases on November 6 and November 11, recording over 66 percent turnout which stands as the highest voting percentage in the state since 1951.
