New Year Celebration: Delhi Police Traffic Advisory For Key Areas; Check Parking Restrictions

In view of the upcoming New Year celebrations in Delhi on Tuesday night, December 31, the Delhi Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory for the public. Connaught Place, India Gate, and Hauz Khas are some of the most popular spots in the national capital where people gather with their families and friends to welcome the New Year. To ensure the safety of the public and maintain smooth traffic flow, the Delhi Police have implemented several measures.

The Delhi Traffic Police will deploy approximately 2,500 personnel to manage the traffic effectively and ensure that vehicles move without major disruptions. Additionally, around 250 teams will be formed to monitor and enforce measures against drunken driving, a common concern during New Year's Eve celebrations.

Traffic Control Measures Around Connaught Place

As part of the measures, the Delhi Police will be focusing on Connaught Place, one of the busiest and most visited areas for New Year's celebrations. To manage the crowd and control traffic, 11 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) companies will be stationed along with 40 motorcycle patrol teams and an equal number of foot patrol teams.

From 8 PM on December 31 until well after midnight, the traffic control measures will be enforced in and around Connaught Place. The police have confirmed that vehicles will not be allowed to enter Connaught Place beyond certain points, such as Mandi House, Bengali Market, and other key intersections.

Only vehicles with valid passes will be allowed to enter the inner, middle, or outer circles of Connaught Place, ensuring better control over traffic congestion in these areas.

Parking Arrangements And Restrictions

Parking will also be limited in several areas surrounding Connaught Place. Designated parking spots have been allocated near Gole Dak Khana, Patel Chowk, and Mandi House, but these spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To prevent inconvenience, the authorities have warned that unauthorised vehicles parked in these restricted areas will be towed and face penalties.

With these measures in place, the Delhi Police aim to ensure a safe and smooth experience for all individuals celebrating the arrival of the New Year in the national capital. People are encouraged to follow the traffic advisory closely to avoid delays and ensure their safety.
