PM Modi to nominate Amitabh Bachchan's name for next President of India?

New Delhi, Mar 30: Politician Amar Singh has revealed something which might surprise a lot and which may make many feel that it could a April Fool's Day joke.

According to a ZeeNews report, "Amar Singh has said that he got to know that 'PM Narendra Modi is planning to propose Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan's name for the next President of India'.

Amar Singh claimed about the Amitabh Bachchan's nomination for President's post in an exclusive interview to Zee News' India24x7 (Essel Group's news channel)."

Amar Singh also said that he was the one to introduce Amitabh Bachchan to Narendra Modi (when he was Gujarat CM) after which Modi asked Bachchan to become brand ambassdoor of Gujarat.

Pranab Mukherjee assumed office on July 25, 2012 as the 13th President of India.

Earlier, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha also mooted the name of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan as the next President of India.

"It will be a matter of pride if Amitabh Bachchan, a cultural icon, is made president of the country," Sinha told reporters.

"Amitabh Bachchan has achieved many a milestone in cultural and social fields and if he becomes president, it will fetch a good name for the country," Sinha, who has worked with the star in many successful movies, said.

In reply to a question that Bachchan has favoured his (Sinha's) name for the president's post, the second term BJP Lok Sabha member from Patna Sahib, said "it's his greatness.

But, I will be happy if he graces the chair of President after Pranab Mukherjee."
