Narayan Rane Slams Shankaracharyas for Criticizing Ram Temple, Questions Their Contribution to Hinduism
Union Minister Narayan Rane criticized the Shankaracharyas for criticizing the Ram Temple and accused them of looking at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP through a political prism. He also questioned their contribution to Hinduism.
Union Minister Narayan Rane sparked controversy on Saturday by criticizing the Shankaracharyas for their criticism of certain aspects of the Ram Temple and accusing them of viewing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP through a political lens. Rane made these remarks while speaking to reporters in Palghar, Maharashtra.

Shankaracharyas Should Bless the Temple, Not Criticize It
Rane expressed his disappointment that the Shankaracharyas were criticizing the Ram Temple instead of blessing it. He emphasized that the temple was not built on political grounds but on religious sentiments, and that Lord Ram is revered as a deity by Hindus. He questioned the Shankaracharyas' contributions to Hinduism and challenged them to spell out their own efforts in this regard.
Rane Dismisses Uddhav Thackeray's Statement
When asked about Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray's suggestion that President Droupadi Murmu should inaugurate the Ram Temple, Rane dismissed it, stating that he would not comment on someone who has no job and sits at home. He also claimed that eight out of the 16 MLAs with Thackeray's faction were approaching the BJP-led ruling alliance and would soon join them, further weakening Thackeray's position.
Congress Accuses Rane of Insulting Hinduism
Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe criticized Rane for his remarks, accusing him of insulting the Hindu religion and its spiritual heads. Londhe questioned Rane's knowledge of Hinduism and demanded a response from the BJP on the minister's statements.
Shankaracharyas' Decision Not to Attend Consecration Ceremony
The controversy surrounding the Ram Temple consecration ceremony stems from reports that two of the four Shankaracharyas have openly welcomed the event but will not attend it due to scheduling conflicts. The opposition parties have criticized the BJP over this decision, with some Shankaracharyas expressing concerns that the construction of the temple is not yet complete and that it would be inappropriate to hold a consecration ceremony at this stage.
Union Minister Narayan Rane's criticism of the Shankaracharyas for their stance on the Ram Temple has ignited a debate about the role of religion and politics in society. As the countdown to the temple's consecration ceremony continues, the controversy surrounding the event is likely to intensify, with the opposition parties seeking to capitalize on any perceived missteps by the BJP.
