The construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, India's first bullet train project, is progressing at a steady pace, but commuters in Ahmedabad are currently experiencing major traffic disruptions due to ongoing infrastructure work.

According to official notifications from the Ahmedabad City Police, several key roads and flyovers have been partially or completely closed to facilitate the installation of bridge segments and the construction of bullet train station pillars along the route.

Key Road Closures and Diversions:

Sabarmati to Vatva Stretch:
This section will remain partially closed until November 15, 2025, as construction teams continue installing bridge segments at the Cadila Bridge. The Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor in this area will remain non-operational during this period. However, regular traffic will be allowed at night on lanes unaffected by the construction.

Saraspur Area:
A 500-meter stretch between RC Technical Institute and Faizan School has been closed for the next three months to enable the construction of a bullet train station pillar. Authorities have issued detailed diversion plans and advised residents to plan their commutes accordingly.

Despite the temporary inconvenience caused to daily commuters, officials have assured that the bullet train project continues to move forward efficiently, with strict adherence to safety standards and a long-term vision for infrastructure improvement.

Once operational, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is expected to drastically cut travel time between the two cities, improving connectivity and boosting economic growth across the region.
