MP Chief Minister Courts Yadav Votes in Guna for BJP's Scindia
In a recent statement made in Guna, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) inclusivity by pointing out that the Congress party has never appointed a member of the Yadav community as the Chief Minister of the state. This remark came in the wake of the Congress announcing Yadvendra Singh Yadav as its candidate against Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a gathering in Chanderi, part of the Guna parliamentary constituency, on Thursday, CM Yadav underscored the BJP's history of elevating members of the Yadav community to the state's top post. He cited the examples of Babulal Gaur, who served as Chief Minister for 15 months in 2004, and his own leadership. The significance of this statement is underscored by the substantial Yadav voter base in Guna, estimated to be around two lakh.
The political landscape in Guna has been particularly noteworthy since Jyotiraditya Scindia's defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by KP Yadav, a BJP candidate. Scindia's subsequent move to the BJP in March 2020 added another layer to the region's political dynamics. Yadvendra Yadav, who has recently switched allegiances from the BJP to Congress ahead of the Assembly polls, was unable to secure a win from Ashok Nagar.
The Chief Minister's comments also serve as a critique of the Congress party's historical leadership decisions in Madhya Pradesh, specifically mentioning the party's decision not to appoint late Subhash Yadav as Chief Minister.
The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh are scheduled to occur in four phases between April 19 and May 13, with voting in Guna slated for May 7. This period is critical for both major parties as they vie for dominance in key constituencies across the state.
