Moldova's Embassy Opening in India Marks a New Chapter in Bilateral Relations, Says Jaishankar
The inauguration of Moldova's embassy in New Delhi marks a significant step in enhancing the partnership between India and Moldova, according to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. He expressed optimism about the potential for an Indian embassy in Moldova soon. This development signifies a deeper friendship and collaboration in crucial areas between the two nations.

Jaishankar highlighted the importance of this event as a milestone in India-Moldova relations. He stated, "Every time an embassy opens here, I know we have done something right." The minister noted that India's recent establishment of embassies and consulates worldwide reflects its increasing global engagement.
Strengthening Diplomatic Ties
The minister emphasised that the opening of the Moldovan embassy is a testament to the shared commitments since diplomatic ties were established in 1992. He recalled Moldova's vital assistance during Operation Ganga, which helped evacuate Indian students during the Ukraine crisis, stating, "India will never forget it."
Jaishankar appreciated Moldova's embrace of yoga and Hindi, viewing it as a reflection of strong bilateral ties. He remarked on India's evolving relationship with Europe, describing it as more dynamic and contemporary. The new embassy is seen as a practical step towards strengthening diplomatic relations.
Expanding Cooperation
In his address, Jaishankar expressed confidence that the embassy would serve as a bridge for cooperation and friendship. He said, "I am confident that this embassy will become a beacon of friendship, serve as a bridge... give a practical meaning to our cooperation."
Later, Jaishankar shared on X about productive discussions with Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi in New Delhi. They explored growing bilateral and multilateral cooperation, focusing on investment, education, technology, and culture.
Future Prospects
The signing of a declaration of intent on a Migration and Mobility partnership was highlighted as a key outcome of these talks. Jaishankar noted that this agreement would open new avenues for collaboration between India and Moldova.
This development underscores India's commitment to fostering international partnerships and expanding its diplomatic presence globally. The establishment of the Moldovan embassy in New Delhi is expected to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
