Maha Kumbh Sees Installation of Mulayam Singh Yadav Idol at Sangam Area Camp
An idol of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party, was unveiled at a camp on the Kumbh fairground in the Sangam area. This was confirmed by Mata Prasad Pandey, Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The statue, measuring between 2 to 3 feet, was inaugurated on Saturday at the Mulayam Singh Yadav Smriti Seva Sansthan Camp, led by Sandeep Yadav.

Pandey stated that he inaugurated the idol of Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday. He described Yadav as their leader and mentioned that the camp was organised to promote his thoughts and ideas. The Mulayam Singh Yadav Smriti Seva Sansthan camp welcomes both locals and pilgrims to visit, dine, and stay there. The idol serves as a symbolic tribute to Yadav.
Mulayam Singh Yadav's Legacy
Mulayam Singh Yadav had a significant political career, serving as Uttar Pradesh's chief minister three times and as India's defence minister. Born on November 22, 1939, in Saifai near Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, he emerged from a farming family to establish one of the state's most influential political dynasties. He was elected as an MLA ten times and served as an MP seven times, primarily representing Mainpuri and Azamgarh.
The idol will be moved to the party office after the Maha Kumbh due to potential flooding in the area. Pandey explained that this decision ensures the statue's preservation. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav mentioned his plans to visit Kumbh for spiritual purposes. "Some people go to bathe in Ganga to perform punya, some people go to give daan and some people go to wash away their sins. We will go for punya and for giving daan," he said.
Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away on October 10, 2022. His contributions to politics remain influential in Uttar Pradesh and beyond. The installation of his idol at the Kumbh fairground serves as a reminder of his enduring legacy and impact on Indian politics.
