Sky-gazers across many parts of the world will be treated to a rare celestial event-a partial lunar eclipse coinciding with a supermoon on the night of September 17-18. This will be the year's final and last lunar eclipse of 2024. As the Earth's shadow sweeps across the moon, it will create a stunning visual display, followed by a full moon.
This astronomical phenomenon will be visible across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. However, for those in India, the event will not be observable.

During the lunar eclipse, the moon will be below the horizon for Indian locations, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Consequently, the eclipse on September 17 will not be visible from India.

The lunar eclipse will start at 6:11 AM Indian Standard Time (IST) on September 18 and conclude at 10:17 AM, lasting a total of 4 hours and 6 minutes.

The full moon, known as the Harvest Moon, will be visible from September 18, extending its full light from Newfoundland and Greenland Time eastward to Eurasia, Africa, and Australia. The supermoon will be visible for three days, from Monday evening through Thursday evening.
