Lucknow Tragedy: A 24-year-old man from Agra, Arshad, allegedly murdered his mother and four sisters in Lucknow and recorded a chilling video explaining the grisly act. The incident has shocked the city and raised questions about the underlying motives behind such a brutal crime, a reported by Hindustan Times.
The Crime: A Night of Horror

On December 30, 2024, Arshad and his family checked into Hotel Sharan Jeet in Lucknow, reportedly to celebrate the New Year. However, the night ended in tragedy. Arshad served his family food and alcohol laced with intoxicants. Later, he allegedly murdered his mother and four sisters-aged 9, 16, 18, and 19. Some victims were reportedly strangled, while others were killed with a blade.
Arshad's Chilling Confession
After committing the murders, Arshad recorded a disturbing video where he explained his reasons for the killings. According to him, he acted to protect his family from a plot involving their neighbors, who he claimed were attempting to take over their property and sell his sisters in Hyderabad. Arshad's words in the video, which have gone viral, state, "I couldn't let that happen." His video showed the lifeless bodies of his victims, adding to the horror of the crime.
The Discovery and Investigation
The bodies of the victims were found by the authorities in the hotel room, where the family had been staying. Arshad's father, Majid Mukarram, spoke to the media and revealed that the family learned of the tragic deaths around 4:30 PM. Arshad's younger brother had initially planned to join the trip but canceled after the incident.
Police were quick to respond, and Arshad was arrested shortly after he confessed to the crime. The authorities discovered the murder weapons, including the blade used in the killings and the dupatta used to strangle his mother, as per Hindustan Times reports. Investigations are ongoing, with the police reviewing CCTV footage to locate Arshad's father, who is allegedly involved in the murders and is currently on the run.
A Family Shattered by Violence
The crime has left the local community in shock, especially considering the brutal nature of the killings. According to Raveena Tyagi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, "The bodies of five people, including four girls and their mother, were found in a room. Preliminary investigations suggest a family dispute as the motive behind the killings."
The Motive: Family Dispute and Alleged Harassment
Arshad claimed that relentless pressure from their community in Agra led him to commit the heinous act. He alleged that his neighbors had been harassing his family for some time, trying to seize their property. Arshad also implicated his father, Badar, as an accomplice in the murders. The police are continuing their investigation into the motive and any potential involvement from other family members, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Conclusion: The Aftermath of Tragedy
This horrifying crime raises important questions about the destructive potential of unresolved family tensions and property disputes. While Arshad remains in custody, authorities are focused on locating his father and bringing him to justice. The tragedy has left the community and the family's surviving members grappling with the senseless loss of their loved ones.
As the investigation unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of how familial conflicts, when left unresolved, can escalate into tragic and irreversible acts of violence.
