Lok Sabha Elections 2024: RLD's Jayant Chaudhary Likely To Join NDA, BJP Offers 4 Seats In UP

Wednesday morning came with a shocker for the Opposition's INDIA bloc as reports suggesting that the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Chaudhary may join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 surfaced on the internet. The reports said Jayant Chaudhary is in talks with top BJP leaders and the saffron front has offered RLD four Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

Reports added that Jayant Choudhary, a renowned farmers leader, may get Kairana, Baghpat, Mathura, and Amroha lok sabha constituencies.

Jayant Chaudhary's party RJD is already in alliance with Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party (SP) and if he decided to part ways and join hands with the BJP, then INDIA bloc, who was expecting massive support from the farmers of Uttar Pradesh after farmers' protest against Modi government over farm laws, would get weaken.

The reports further added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could attend the rally in Uttar Pradesh's Chhaprauli, where a statue of Jayant Chaudhary's grandfather, Chaudhary Charan Singh, will be unveiled.

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan made it clear that their parties in their respective states would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections solo.

The decisions were made by both the chief ministers after observing that Congress, the leading members of the INDIA bloc, was delaying discussions over the seat sharing and no plan was made to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP.

Uttar Pradesh has 80 Lok Sabha seats. In the 2019, the Congress won only 1 seat in UP, while the SP-BSP alliance bagged five seats.
