Kumbh Mela 2025: Akhilesh Yadav Slams Yogi Govt For Planning Meeting In Prayagraj
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has come down heavily on the Yogi government for holding a cabinet meeting in the Prayagraj saying Kumbh is not a place for politics.
Akhilesh Yadav On UP Govt's Meeting In Kumbh

Speaking to reporters, he said, "Kumbh or Prayagraj is not the place where politics or political decisions should be taken. To organise cabinet meeting at Kumbh is political. Many of us (Samajwadi party people) must have gone to take a holy dip but didn't post a picture or told you (media),"
UP Deputy CM Keshav Prashad Maurya had earlier claimed that the important decisions will be taken in the Cabinet meeting. He said, "Many important decisions will be taken in the Cabinet meeting today. All cabinet members along with the CM will also take a holy dip at Sangam today."
Key Decision To Be Taken
As per a report in ANI, the UP goverment has extended invitation to all 54 ministers. The cabinet is likely to approve several significant proposals and schemes for the state.
This isn't the first time CM Yogi has led his cabinet to the Sangam. In 2019, during the Kumbh Mela, he performed a similar ritual, joined by his ministers, saints, and religious leaders, including the late Akhada Parishad President Narendra Giri.
Remaining Key Dates for Holy Baths (Shahi Snan)
Maha Kumbh, one of the world's largest religious gatherings, attracts millions of devotees each year. This year's key remaining dates for holy baths include:
- January 29: Mauni Amavasya (Second Shahi Snan)
- February 3: Basant Panchami (Third Shahi Snan)
- February 12: Maghi Purnima
- February 26: Maha Shivaratri
Security and Safety Measures
To ensure a safe and smooth experience for devotees, the Uttar Pradesh police have deployed over 10,000 personnel, including local police and paramilitary forces. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has stationed a water ambulance at the Sangam, prepared to respond to any emergencies during the event.
Maha Kumbh 2025: A Spiritual Spectacle
The Maha Kumbh began on January 13 and will continue until February 26, drawing millions of pilgrims and tourists to the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. With CM Yogi and his cabinet's participation, the event symbolizes a unifying blend of governance and spirituality, celebrating faith while ensuring public safety and infrastructure support.
