Khan Sir Addresses Allegations Of Police Misconduct During BPSC Protests And Exam Normalisation Concerns

Patna-based educator and YouTuber, Khan Sir, has addressed allegations of police misconduct during protests against changes to the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Preliminary Examination rules. He clarified that he did not experience any misbehavior from the police. Khan Sir also mentioned his health had been poor for 1.5 months, which worsened during the protest.

During a visit to Gardani Bagh to support students opposing the BPSC rule changes on December 13, Khan Sir's health deteriorated. He was subsequently hospitalised in Patna due to dehydration and fever. Despite his condition, he felt compelled to stay at the protest site, fearing that leaving might hinder the students' demands.

Khan Sir Discusses Normalisation Process

Khan Sir explained the 'normalisation process' related to the BPSC exam. He noted that normalisation is used when exams can't be held on a single day or when student numbers are high. Different regions like Bhagalpur, Buxar, and Shivganj received varied questions, leading to inconsistent marks for students.

He emphasised that this method is suitable only for Mathematics and not for General Studies. The inconsistency in question papers across regions caused distress among students and teachers. Initially scheduled for December, a notification stated that question papers would differ across 38 districts.

Concerns Over Paper Leaks

The BPSC claimed that varying question papers would prevent leaks. However, Khan Sir argued that normalisation is equally concerning. Despite raising these issues with the Commission, their concerns were dismissed. Protests ensued until a notification confirmed a single question paper would be used.

When asked about entering politics, Khan Sir expressed no interest in contesting elections. He stated, "I don't want to contest the election; I want to clear it...I don't get enough rest after teaching. I am tired of answering."

Khan Sir's involvement in these protests highlights ongoing challenges faced by students and educators regarding examination processes in Bihar. His commitment to addressing these issues underscores his dedication to educational fairness and transparency.
