Instead Of Dirty Politics...: CM Atishi Responds To LG's Letter On Kejriwal Ahead Of Delhi Polls 2025
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has responded to a letter from Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The letter expressed concern over Arvind Kejriwal's comment, calling her a "temporary chief minister." Saxena described this as a blatant disregard for democratic values and the Constitution. Atishi criticised the LG, urging him to focus on improving Delhi rather than engaging in politics.
In his letter, Saxena stated that Kejriwal's remark was disrespectful to President Droupadi Murmu, who appointed Atishi, and also to himself as her representative. He found Kejriwal's public declaration of Atishi as a temporary leader highly objectionable and hurtful. Saxena emphasised that such statements lack constitutional backing and undermine democratic principles.

Governor's Concerns Over Leadership Remarks
Saxena praised Atishi for addressing various administrative challenges since assuming office. He noted that during his tenure, he observed the chief minister actively fulfilling their duties. The LG extended his new year greetings to Atishi, acknowledging her efforts in managing multiple departments and tackling administrative issues.
The lieutenant governor expressed concern about the circumstances under which Atishi became chief minister. He warned that any failures in completing pending tasks would be attributed to her due to her own party leader labelling her as "stopgap." Saxena criticised Kejriwal for making unauthorised announcements regarding schemes for senior citizens and women, which he said tarnished the dignity of the chief minister's office.
Addressing Misleading Public Statements
Saxena highlighted recent public notices from two Delhi government departments warning people about "non-existent schemes" initiated by the former chief minister. He acknowledged that this situation must have been uncomfortable for Atishi but appreciated departmental officials for presenting accurate information to the public.
The LG accused Kejriwal of making baseless public statements without facts, claiming investigations into Atishi by the transport department and other agencies. Saxena clarified that no such actions were being taken or discussed by these departments. The additional chief secretary of the transport department had informed Atishi that Kejriwal's statements were unfounded and misleading.
Concerns Over Public Discourse
Saxena expressed worry about the level of public discourse surrounding this issue. He felt hurt by discussions portraying Delhi's full-time chief minister as temporary. Despite these challenges, Saxena acknowledged Atishi's efforts in addressing administrative issues and fulfilling her responsibilities as chief minister.
