Indian Railways Showcases Progress Of Anand Bullet Train Station Construction
The Indian Railways Ministry recently posted a video on its X handle, previously known as Twitter. This video highlights the ongoing construction of the bullet train railway station in Anand, Gujarat. The caption read: "Marching ahead with unwavering progress, the modern symphony of speed and advanced Rail infra takes shape at Anand #BulletTrain Station, Gujarat."
Earlier, Indian Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a video showcasing India's first bullet train terminal at the Sabarmati Multimodal transport hub in Ahmedabad. The footage revealed a blend of contemporary architecture and cultural heritage. This terminal is designed to accommodate passengers for India's first bullet train service.

Bullet Train Project Details
The bullet train project aims to connect Ahmedabad and Mumbai, reducing travel time to approximately 2.07 hours. The train will reach speeds up to 350 km per hour. This ambitious project is being developed with both technical and financial support from the Japanese government.
The project involves constructing a double line stretching 508 kilometres, including tunnels and sections under the sea. The estimated cost stands at Rs 1,08,000 Crore. A significant portion, about 81%, will be financed through a Japanese soft loan with an interest rate of 0.1% per annum over a repayment period of 50 years, including a grace period of 15 years.
Historical Context and Launch
The initiative was launched in 2017 during a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shinzo Abe, Japan's former Prime Minister. This event marked the beginning of an important collaboration between India and Japan in high-speed rail technology.
Equipped with cutting-edge features, the Sabarmati terminal is set to serve as a key hub for this high-speed rail network. It represents a significant step forward in modernising India's railway infrastructure while preserving cultural elements.
This development reflects India's commitment to advancing its transportation infrastructure through international partnerships. The collaboration with Japan not only brings technological expertise but also financial backing essential for such large-scale projects.
