Indian Railways Prepares for Chhath Puja Rush with Special Trains and Passenger Comfort Measures

As Chhath Puja approaches, Indian Railways is stepping up to manage the festive travel surge. Reports confirm that 12,000 special trains have already been introduced nationwide, with plans to deploy an additional 8,000 in response to growing demand, according to the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway.

Chhath Puja, also called Surya Shashti or Dala Puja, is dedicated to worshipping Lord Surya for prosperity. To support devotees traveling across states, the East Central Railway has operated over 1,800 special trains, while other zones have contributed thousands more, particularly serving routes to Bihar.

Railway Minister Visits to Assess Arrangements

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently visited New Delhi Railway Station to review the preparations. Highlighting the efforts of staff, he noted that 12 lakh railway employees are working around the clock to ensure safe travel. "So far, around 1 crore passengers have traveled on special trains," the minister added.

Enhanced Passenger Comfort and Convenience

To handle the expected crowds, Indian Railways has implemented queue management systems and is constructing additional waiting halls at major stations. More special trains are also being arranged to meet passenger needs during the festival.

With these extensive arrangements, Indian Railways aims to provide a seamless, safe, and comfortable travel experience for millions of devotees during Chhath Puja.
