Indian Army has always outperformed itself, says Arun Jaitley
The army commanders' conference is an important event in the planning and execution of various key decisions relating to the country's security and strategic interests.
Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday while speaking at Biannual Army Commanders' Conference said that modernisation of defence equipment is important requirement and government is working towards it.
He also said that Indian Army have strong image and high reputation and all ranks must endeavour to further strengthen it.
He complimented the commanders, saying ''Whenever challenges multiply & their nature changes, Indian Army has always outperformed itself,'' Jaitley said.
Meanwhile, Army Chief Bipin Rawat also said Indian Army has a strong image and reputation and all ranks must endeavour to further strengthen it.
The video, showing a man tied to an army vehicle purportedly as a shield against stone-pelters during polling in the Srinagar Lok Sabha by-election, has triggered a public outcry prompting civil and army authorities to launch separate investigation.The conference is likely to deliberate extensively on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
