Anurag Thakur Advocates for Narendra Modi's Third Term for a Stronger India
Union Minister Anurag Thakur, at a recent poll rally, made a compelling appeal to the electorate, emphasizing the necessity of re-electing Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for a third term to ensure national security and further development. The rally, aimed at garnering support for the party's Chandigarh candidate Sanjay Tandon, became a platform for Thakur to outline the vision of a robust leadership under Modi's continued premiership.

Thakur highlighted the critical need for a "damdar" (strong) Prime Minister and a full majority government to maintain continuity and stability. This, he argued, is essential for the effective implementation of policies and programs that reach their intended beneficiaries. According to Thakur, the Modi government has exemplified this through its commitment to last-mile delivery.
The Union Minister did not shy away from critiquing the opposition, particularly the Congress party, accusing it of failing to respond effectively to terror attacks during its tenure. He contrasted this with the decisive actions taken by the Modi government, such as the surgical strike and air strike within Pakistani territory in response to provocations.
Furthermore, Thakur accused the Congress of engaging in appeasement politics and undermining the quotas allocated to SC, ST, and OBC communities in states governed by the party. He also addressed allegations made by Congress regarding potential amendments to the Constitution by the BJP, countering them with references to Congress's own history of constitutional amendments.
The discourse took a more pointed turn as Thakur criticized certain Congress leaders' remarks on Pakistan, including suggestions to open the Wagah border for patients from Pakistan, which Thakur argued could facilitate militants' entry into India. He also lamented the Nehru-Gandhi family's inability to open the Kartarpur corridor in 70 years, contrasting it with their current advocacy for opening the Wagah border.
With voting in Chandigarh scheduled for June 1, Thakur's remarks underscored the BJP's campaign narrative focused on national security, development, and effective governance. The appeal for a third term for Modi is framed within a broader discourse on ensuring India's progress and stability through strong leadership and a majority government.
