Actress Tamannaah Gets Summons From Maharashtra Cyber Cell In Illegal IPL Streaming App Case

Maharashtra Cyber summons actor Tamannaah Bhatia has reportedly issued summons to actress Tamannaah Bhatia for questioning in connection with the illegal streaming of IPL 2023 on Fairplay App which had caused a loss of crores of rupees to Viacom.

She has been asked to appear before Maharashtra Cyber on April 29. Also, actor Sanjay Dutt was also summoned in this connection on 23rd April but he had not appeared before them.

He had, instead, sought a date and time for recording his statement and said that he was not in India on the date.

The Fairplay app is a betting application designed for the Indian market, accessible for free on both Android and iOS platforms. Users can begin using the app with a minimum deposit of Rs 500.

It is a subsidiary of the Mahadev online gaming app that offers platforms for illegal betting on various live games including Cricket, Poker, Badminton, Tennis, Football card games, and chance games.

The Mahadev betting app hogged limelight last year when actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, who have endorsed the app, were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for interrogation.

The app came under scrutiny from investigative agencies following a lavish ₹200-crore wedding held in the UAE in February last year, which was reportedly financed entirely in cash.

Tamannaah is a multilingual actress who has predominantly worked in Tamil and Telugu movies. She made her debut with hit movie 'Happy Days' in 2007. Since then, she has worked in over 80 languages including a few in Bollywood.

She has shared screen space with most of the leading names including Thalapathy Vijay, Ajith Kumar, Ram Charan, Prabhas, Karthi, Suriya, Mahesh Babu, Dhanush, Junior NTR, Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi and Venkatesh. Some of her notable movies are: 'Paiyaa', 'Sura', 'Rebel', 'Veeram' and 'Baahubali' series.

Her upcoming movies are: Hindi flicks 'Vedaa', 'Stree 2', Tamil movie 'Aranmanai 4' and Telugu flick 'Odela 2'.
