I-T Dept Raids Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's Aide's' Residence In Ranchi

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader, Manoj Pandey, has raised questions about the recent Income Tax department raids. These raids occurred just as the state assembly elections approach. Pandey expressed concerns over the timing and intent of these actions, suggesting they might be politically motivated due to the lack of attendance at BJP rallies compared to those of Hemant Soren and Kalpana Soren.

Earlier on Saturday, the Income Tax department conducted a raid at Sunil Srivastava's residence. Srivastava is known to be a close associate and personal secretary to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. This development has sparked further debate about the role of central agencies during election periods.

Election Timing Raises Concerns

Pandey highlighted that with only a few days left before the elections, such actions could disrupt preparations. He noted that Srivastava plays a significant role in organising for the assembly elections. The timing of these raids has led to questions about their purpose and impact on election activities.

In a related statement, JMM candidate Mahua Maji criticised the BJP, asserting that the people have decided against supporting what she termed 'jumlebaaz'. She recalled attempts by agencies to arrest CM Soren during previous Lok Sabha elections, which did not deter their success. Maji emphasised that despite high-profile visits from leaders like Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the results favoured JMM.

Upcoming Assembly Elections

The political climate in Jharkhand is tense as assembly elections draw near. The JMM, led by CM Soren and allied with Congress, RJD, and left parties, faces stiff competition from the BJP-led NDA alliance. The elections are set for November 13 and 20 across two phases, with counting slated for November 23.

These developments come amid heightened political activity in Jharkhand. The state's 81-member assembly will soon see voters deciding its future leadership amidst these controversies and alliances.
