Himachal Pradesh Ramps Up SDRF to Combat Disasters Efficiently
Himachal Pradesh takes proactive steps to fortify its State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) by providing advanced training, necessary equipment, and strategic deployment of personnel to effectively handle disasters and minimize damage.
In a bid to enhance disaster preparedness and response, the Himachal Pradesh government has announced plans to strengthen its State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). The move comes in the wake of recent monsoon-related calamities that caused significant loss of life and property in the state.
Modern Training and Equipment for SDRF Personnel
Recognizing the unique geographical challenges that contribute to disaster risks in Himachal Pradesh, the government is prioritizing the provision of modern training and equipment for SDRF personnel. A substantial budget of Rs 12.65 crore has been allocated to ensure that SDRF jawans are well-equipped to handle various types of disasters.
Swift Relief and Assistance for Affected Families
During the review meeting, discussions centered around the relief measures and benefits extended to disaster-affected individuals in the state. It was revealed that a substantial amount of Rs 227 crore has been disbursed under the special disaster relief program to support affected families.
Promoting Community Engagement and Awareness
Emphasizing the importance of community involvement, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi stressed the need for SDRF jawans to establish effective communication with local residents. This collaborative approach aims to foster better coordination and preparedness in managing disaster risks. Additionally, efforts will be made to educate the public about necessary precautions and actions to take during various disaster scenarios.
By strengthening the SDRF and promoting community engagement, the Himachal Pradesh government is taking proactive steps to mitigate disaster risks and ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens. These initiatives underscore the state's commitment to building resilience against natural calamities and minimizing their impact on vulnerable communities.
