Himachal Pradesh: Landslide In Kullu Leaves 6 Dead, 5 Injured
Six people lost their lives, and five others were injured in a landslide near Gurdwara Manikaran Sahib in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, on Sunday. The incident, which was accompanied by the uprooting of trees, caused significant damage in the area.
According to Kullu's Additional District Magistrate, Ashwani Kumar, the landslide struck the parking area near Manikaran Gurudwara, leading to the tragic fatalities and injuries. "Police and rescue teams from the district administration have shifted the five injured to the local community hospital in Jari," he told ANI.

Kullu MLA Sunder Singh Thakur confirmed the details, stating that the incident occurred when a tree was uprooted due to the storm and subsequent landslide. "Bodies are being brought to the hospital, and the four injured are also being treated. The police team and administration are at the site, overseeing the rescue efforts," he said.
Officials reported that a tree on the mountain opposite the gurudwara collapsed onto several parked vehicles, resulting in the casualties. The injured were immediately transported to Jari Hospital for medical care.
Emergency teams, including medical personnel, police, and revenue officials, have been deployed at the scene to coordinate rescue and relief operations. Kullu's Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Vikas Shukla, assured that all necessary measures are being taken.
Expressing grief over the tragedy, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur extended their condolences. CM Sukhu directed the district administration to provide all possible assistance to the victims and their families. He also instructed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.
The landslide comes after a period of heavy rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, which has triggered multiple landslides across the region. Earlier this month, severe weather led to road blockages and damage to vehicles in Kullu. In Kangra district, a massive landslide caused by continuous rain and cloudbursts damaged several vehicles and put 12 houses at risk.
Authorities relocated affected families to safer locations while restoration work continues. In another weather-related incident, one person went missing near the Shiva Hydropower Project in Palampur. A search operation has been launched to locate him.
