HDFC Bank Suspends Senior Executive After Video Of Him Abusing Colleagues Goes Viral
HDFC Bank, one of India's leading financial institutions, has taken action against one of its senior executives in Kolkata for his alleged involvement in unruly behavior towards colleagues during an internal meeting. The incident, captured in a viral video on social media, has sparked a discussion on the toxic work environment prevalent in corporate India.
The video shows a senior executive from HDFC Bank using abusive language and engaging in public humiliation of his colleagues during an online meeting.

Netizens quickly took notice of the video, highlighting the demanding work environment that often exists in pursuit of meeting deadlines and targets within the corporate sector. The senior official can be seen hurling verbal abuse and berating his juniors in the video footage.
The now-suspended senior executive is seen questioning his juniors, asking, "How many saving and current accounts have you opened in the last two days? Tell me." He also directed his anger towards another employee, and asked, "You were supposed to open 15, but you have only opened 5."
After the video went viral, HDFC Bank responded to a user's post, stating, "Hi Sara, this bears reference to a recent social media report. Basis a preliminary inquiry into the matter, the concerned employee has been suspended, and a detailed investigation has been initiated which will be undertaken as per the Conduct guidelines of the Bank. We at HDFC Bank have a zero tolerance policy for any form of misconduct at the workplace and firmly believe in treating all our employees with dignity and respect," said Ajay, Service Manager.
One user shared their experience, saying, "They are not normal employees; he is yelling at Branch Managers of different branches under his Cluster. This is a daily event when I was there too. Nothing surprising. The complete management is like this only."
Another user said that while pressure and challenging times are part of corporate life, screaming and using irrelevant and abusive language should not be tolerated. They noted that the individual in question holds the position of a CA (Chartered Accountant) and VP (Vice President), indicating the need for an apology.
The incident serves as a reminder for organizations to prioritize creating a healthy and respectful work environment, where employees can thrive and contribute positively without being subjected to undue stress or mistreatment.
