Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign A Huge Success, Over 60 Million Selfies Uploaded
As India observes its 76th year of independence on August 15, 2023, this day carries immense pride and importance for Indians around the world. In line with the ongoing 'Har Ghar Tiranga movement,' Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on citizens to change their social media display pictures (DPs) to the Indian National Flag or the tricolour. Remarkably, the central government's Har Ghar Tiranga website has received an unprecedented response to this campaign, with over 60 million selfies submitted and the count still rising, ahead of Independence Day 2023. This distinctive initiative is scheduled to take place from August 13 to 15, 2023.
The Prime Minister conveyed this message through the microblogging platform X, encouraging individuals to actively support this cause and further strengthen the bond between the nation and its people.

According to the official Har Ghar Tiranga website, the government has already received 60,186,006 (60 million) selfies featuring the Tricolour. The website's homepage has been revamped to include an option for users to upload selfies with the flag or even create a digital version of the tricolour.
In another tweet, PM Modi said that the significance of the Tiranga (Indian flag) and urged people to contribute their photographs to the Har Ghar Tiranga website. His tweet read, "The Tiranga symbolizes freedom and national unity. Every Indian has an emotional connection with the tricolour, inspiring us to work harder for our nation's progress. I urge you all to participate in the #HarGharTiranga movement from 13th to 15th August. Share your Tiranga photos here: https://harghartiranga.com."
The Har Ghar Tiranga website showcases prominent figures, including Union ministers, actors, and athletes, displaying the Indian flag. Icons like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Anupam Kher, along with cricketers Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar, and model-actress Manushi Chillar can be seen proudly posing with the Tricolour.
Independence Day 2023 is set to host several events. Alongside the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, silent marches are planned on August 14, observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day 2023. This day commemorates those who suffered displacement or lost their lives during the tragic events of the 1947 Partition, marked by mindless hate and violence.
The Har Ghar Tiranga movement was initially introduced by the Ministry of Culture in 2022 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, marking India's 75th anniversary of independence. During the commemoration, PM Modi introduced the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative on July 22 of the previous year, a date chosen for its profound historical significance in relation to the adoption of the national flag.
