Gurugram DC Ajay Kumar Enforces GRAP 4 Restrictions to Tackle Air Pollution Crisis
Gurugram's Deputy Commissioner, Ajay Kumar, has mandated the enforcement of GRAP 4 restrictions due to worsening air quality. The directive introduces several measures, such as altering government office hours, encouraging remote work for private firms, and implementing hybrid learning in schools. Additionally, construction and demolition activities face a temporary halt.

According to the order, government employees are required to work from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Municipal body staff will operate between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Private institutions have been advised to adopt work-from-home arrangements until further notice.
Hybrid Learning and Construction Bans
Schools are instructed to conduct classes in a hybrid format, except for grades 10 and 12. This measure aims to reduce the number of students physically present on campus, thereby decreasing pollution from transportation.
The restrictions extend to both public and private construction projects, including highways and flyovers. Vehicles transporting construction materials on unpaved roads are also prohibited from operating during this period.
Additional Environmental Measures
The order also bans open burning of waste, the use of polythene bags, and other polluting substances. These steps are part of a broader effort to curb pollution levels in the district.
"The use of polythene and polluting substances will also be banned," the order stated. These measures are crucial for improving air quality and protecting public health.
The implementation of these restrictions is vital for addressing the severe air pollution issue in Gurugram. Authorities hope these actions will lead to a noticeable improvement in air quality over time.
