Google's Redirect Method to fight ISIS rolls out today
“The Redirect Method uses Adwords targeting tools and curated YouTube videos.
Digital counter-terrorism considered to be Google's biggest experiment rolls out today. The initiative aims at wiping out ISIS related propaganda on YouTube.

As part of this experiment which kickstarts today if any potential recruit searches for extremist content using a predefined set of keywords, they will be redirected to videos that deconstruct and confront the terrorist group. The project is called the Redirect Method.
What is the Redirect Method:
"The Redirect Method uses Adwords targeting tools and curated YouTube videos uploaded by people all around the world to confront online radicalization. It focuses on the slice of ISIS' audience that is most susceptible to its messaging, and redirects them towards curated YouTube videos debunking ISIS recruiting themes. This open methodology was developed from interviews with ISIS defectors, respects users' privacy and can be deployed to tackle other types of violent recruiting discourses online."
The keywords that trigger YouTube's new tools centered around search terms that contained positive ISIS sentiment, like the slogan "Baqiyah wa Tatamadad ("Remaining & Expanding") and respectful terms like "Al Dawla Al Islameyah," which includes the honorific "al-Dawla," denoting respect, techcrunch.com reported.
