Rawat emphasised that the Election Commission operates with impartiality, which he reiterated during his remarks in Indore.

Rawat refrained from commenting on the controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi's allegations of "vote chori" in the Lok Sabha elections. He mentioned that he had not listened to the Election Commission's response during their press conference. However, he did address the issue of electoral roll transparency, stating that publishing final electoral rolls is reasonable and strengthens democracy.

Electoral Roll Transparency and Privacy Concerns

According to Rawat, enrolling names in the electoral roll is crucial for democracy. He dismissed privacy concerns, asserting that they only arise when personal voter details are shared with those having vested interests. This perspective highlights the importance of maintaining transparency while safeguarding voter information.

Addressing allegations of bogus voting, Rawat noted that the likelihood of someone voting multiple times is minimal. This is due to stringent document verification at polling stations and the use of indelible ink on voters' fingers before they cast their votes. These measures ensure the integrity of the voting process.

CEC Gyanesh Kumar's Response to Allegations

In response to Rahul Gandhi's accusations of "vote chori" in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, CEC Gyanesh Kumar held a press conference. He urged Gandhi to either apologise or substantiate his claims with a signed affidavit, as required by electoral rules. This request underscores the need for accountability and evidence in addressing such serious allegations.
