FASTag Annual Pass: Launch Date, Price, Validity & How Many Trips You Can Travel? Full Details
In a major push towards smoother and more efficient highway journeys, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday announced the launch of a FASTag-based Annual Pass for private vehicle owners.
A Game-Changer for Highway Commuters
The new FASTag Annual Pass is designed to offer seamless travel on National Highways, eliminating frequent stops and delays at toll booths. Aimed at non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans, the pass will provide a convenient, one-time payment solution for frequent travellers.

Fast Tag Annual Pass Launch Date
The initiative is set to roll out from August 15 and is expected to revolutionize toll payments and reduce congestion at plazas across India.
Gadkari emphasized that this move aligns with the government's vision of digital transformation and ease of travel on Indian highways. The pass will be activated and renewed through the Rajmarg Yatra App, as well as the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
What Is The Price Of FASTag Annual Pass and How Many Trips You Can Travel In A Year?
The annual pass costs Rs 3000 and there is a cap of 200 trips. "Valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips-whichever comes first-this pass is designed exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans," Gadkari wrote.
How Does It Work?
FASTag, India's electronic toll collection system, uses RFID technology to deduct toll charges automatically as vehicles pass through plazas. With over 750 toll plazas-including all National Highways and more than 100 State Highways-already FASTag-enabled, the new Annual Pass will further streamline the process.
The government has made FASTag mandatory for all Class M & N vehicles (four-wheelers and above) since January 1, 2021, ensuring faster transactions and reduced traffic bottlenecks. Currently, 26 banks issue FASTags, while 12 banks facilitate toll transactions.
Benefits of the FASTag Annual Pass
- Seamless travel without frequent toll stops
- Reduced congestion and waiting time at plazas
- Digital convenience with easy activation and renewal
- Nationwide coverage across all FASTag-enabled toll plazas
What's Next?
With the official launch date approaching, the government is expected to release detailed guidelines on eligibility, activation, and usage limits. This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize India's highway infrastructure and promote cashless, contactless toll payments.
For millions of private vehicle owners, the FASTag Annual Pass could be the key to faster, stress-free highway journeys. Stay tuned for further updates on how to avail this facility and make the most of your road trips!
