Faridabad Police Officer Arrested for Accepting Rs 12 Lakh Bribe in Bail Case

A probationary sub-inspector (PSI) from Faridabad police was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 12 lakh for bail in a case, an official stated on Friday. The accused, identified as Arjun, was apprehended with over Rs 7 lakh in cash. However, another PSI involved managed to escape, according to the official.

According to an ACB spokesperson, the fleeing officer has been identified as sub-inspector Ram Chander. Both officers were stationed at Cyber Police Station NIT in Faridabad. The complainant reported that the two officers demanded Rs 19 lakh to assist his family in securing bail, but the amount was negotiated down to Rs 12 lakh.

Bribe Trap Set by ACB

The ACB team devised a plan to catch both officers with evidence. They instructed the complainant to arrange a meeting at Sector 15 market to hand over the bribe money. On Thursday night, when Arjun received the money, the ACB team, which had set up a trap, apprehended him on the spot. Ram Chander was also present but managed to flee.

A senior officer from the ACB mentioned that efforts are underway to locate the absconding sub-inspector. Meanwhile, Arjun is being interrogated for further information regarding the incident and any other potential misconduct.
