Devendra Fadnavis Calls for Development of App to Integrate Agricultural Schemes Using AI Technology
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed officials to create a mobile app and website to unify agricultural schemes. This initiative aims to streamline access to information and services for farmers. Fadnavis also mentioned that Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is interested in collaborating on agricultural projects in the state.

During a meeting at the ‘Sahyadri’ guest house in Mumbai, Fadnavis and Gates discussed various agricultural initiatives. The Chief Minister highlighted the necessity of a single-window interface for farmers to access agriculture-related information and advisory services. He emphasised the development of a farmer-centric app and website, focusing on the effective implementation of Agri Stack.
Focus on Agricultural Innovation
Fadnavis stressed the importance of promoting agricultural start-ups and innovation. He directed officials to formulate a scheme that encourages these start-ups, integrating AI-based technology into the Agriculture Department's operations. This approach aims to enhance the effectiveness of agricultural schemes and improve outcomes for farmers.
The Chief Minister also underscored the need for a specialised system in Maharashtra to ensure transparent seed sales and distribution. He advocated using the SAATHI Seed Traceability, Authentication, and Holistic Inventory portal for this purpose. This system is expected to bring transparency and efficiency to seed distribution processes.
Leveraging Technology for Better Outcomes
Fadnavis highlighted the potential of AI in agriculture, particularly for soil analysis, pest management, supply chain development, and weather forecasting. These technological advancements can significantly improve agricultural productivity and sustainability in Maharashtra.
The integration of central and state government schemes was another key point discussed during the meeting. Fadnavis directed officials to enhance the implementation of these schemes, ensuring they are more accessible and beneficial to farmers across the state.
Collaboration with Private Sector
The Chief Minister emphasised learning from private sector expertise in agricultural research. He also advocated for promoting skill-based education within the agricultural sector. This collaboration aims to bring innovative solutions and practices to Maharashtra's agriculture industry.
The meeting concluded with a focus on developing a comprehensive app and website using AI-based technology. This digital platform will integrate all schemes of the Agriculture Department, providing farmers with easy access to information and services.
