Delhi Police Uncovers Drug Trafficking Scheme Using Bike Couriers for Narcotics Delivery
Drug traffickers in Delhi have adopted a new strategy, using bike transport services to deliver narcotics. They hire drivers to carry drugs disguised as medicines, food, and other items. This method has led to several drug recoveries recently, according to police officials.

The Delhi Police arrested two individuals on Monday, including a Nigerian woman, for using this tactic to deliver drugs to hotels and clubs. Deputy Commissioner of Police Southwest Surendra Choudhary stated that the arrested individuals were a 26-year-old Nigerian woman and Mohammad Shadab, aged 32.
Modus Operandi of Drug Traffickers
Small-scale traffickers are increasingly using motorcycle couriers to distribute narcotics across the city. The hired drivers unknowingly transport drugs concealed in boxes of food items, medicines, T-shirts, and health supplements. This method helps traffickers evade detection while reaching their clients.
On October 10, police received a tip-off about two people selling drugs. A raid in Mahipalpur Extension led to Shadab's arrest with 145 grams of methamphetamine and 77 grams of heroin found at his rented place. Following his arrest, a Nigerian woman was also caught with 50.54 grams of MD drug.
Efforts to Combat Drug Trafficking
Shadab revealed during interrogation that he had been involved in human trafficking three years ago and had connections with Nigerians since then. To increase his earnings, he began supplying drugs to various locations using motorcycle couriers, hiding the substances inside T-shirt packages.
The Delhi Police have intensified their efforts against local drug traffickers following a significant drug bust. By focusing on these traffickers, they aim to dismantle larger interstate and international drug networks. A senior officer mentioned that interrogations often lead them to bigger players in the drug trade.
In a recent joint operation between Delhi and Gujarat Police, 518 kilograms of cocaine worth approximately Rs 5,000 crore were seized in Ankleshwar, Gujarat. This operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals involved in the drug trade.
The police continue their crackdown on drug trafficking by targeting local suppliers who play a crucial role in distributing narcotics across Delhi and its surrounding areas. Their ongoing efforts aim to curb the drug menace effectively.
