Did Sidhu Moose Wala’s Parents Violate IVF Rules When Having A Second Baby?

Balkaur Singh, the father of the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, has alleged harassment over the birth of his second son. Singh and his wife Charan Kaur welcomed their baby boy on March 17, nearly two years after Moosewala was fatally shot in Punjab's Mansa district. The couple utilized the In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) technique for the conception.

In a social media video, Singh expressed frustration at the administration's demands for documentation to prove the child's legality. Despite the joyous occasion of their son's birth, Singh described facing harassment from authorities seeking proof of the child's legal status.

Singh appealed to the government, particularly Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, to allow them to complete the treatment without further interference. He asserted his innocence, challenging authorities to take legal action against him if he had violated any laws.

Congress leader Pratap Bajwa condemned the Punjab government's investigation into the newborn child, calling it shameful. Bajwa criticized the government for prioritizing probing over congratulating the family, suggesting that the government should have ignored any inquiries from the central government.

In a related development, the Union Health Ministry has requested a report from Punjab's health department regarding the child born to Charan Kaur through IVF. The ministry cited the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, which stipulates that women undergoing ART services should be between 21 and 50 years old, while Charan Kaur is 58 and Singh is around 60.
