Delhi Weather Report: AQI Improves To 'Very Poor', Temperature Close To 7 Degree Celsius

Delhi's air quality has shown some improvement, moving to the 'very poor' category on Saturday. Officials reported a 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 370, compared to Friday's 'severe' level of 429 The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that Delhi's maximum temperature 23.4°C, while the minimum was 7.6°C.

This morning, Delhi experienced a cold start with fog. The IMD warned of worsening conditions due to colder winds and expected rainfall in the coming days. At 5:30 am, the temperature was recorded at 8°C.

Delhi Weather Forecast and Visibility

The IMD predicts moderate fog for Sunday in the National capital, with temperatures ranging from a high of 24°C to a low of 8°C. Visibility at Indira Gandhi International Airport has been reduced to 600 metres, with runway visibility between 700 and 2,000 metres.

On Friday, out of Delhi's 36 monitoring stations, 14 reported AQI levels in the 'Severe Plus' category, exceeding readings of 450. The remaining stations recorded AQI levels in the 'Severe' range, between 401 and 450.

Rainfall and Air Quality Forecast for Delhi

The IMD has forecasted light to moderate rainfall for December 26 in Delhi. This rainfall is anticipated to improve the hazardous air pollution levels. Humidity is expected to be around 20% during this period.

Under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), Delhi's air quality remained in the 'severe’ category on Friday with an AQI of 429 dominated by PM2.5 particles.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', between 51 and 100 'satisfactory', between 101 and 200 'moderate', between 201 and 300 'poor', between 301 and 400 'very poor', and between 401 and 500 'severe'.
