Delhi University Clarifies CUET Guidelines for Undergraduate Admissions in Recent Webinar
Delhi University recently held a webinar to guide students on the undergraduate admissions process. The session emphasised the necessity of taking the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in subjects studied in Class 12. Many students and parents attended, seeking clarity from admission officials. The event was led by Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi and Joint Dean Anand Sonkar.

Gandhi stressed the importance of accurately completing application forms, highlighting that mistakes in CUET applications cannot be corrected later. Students must ensure details like their name, parents' names, category, and digital signature are precise. From this year, students can choose up to five subjects in CUET, which includes 37 subjects and a General Aptitude Test.
CUET Subject Selection Crucial for Admission
Choosing CUET subjects that align with those studied in Class 12 is essential. Gandhi explained that for BCom Hons, students need to have studied either Mathematics or Accountancy in Class 12. Those without these subjects cannot apply for BCom Hons but may opt for the BCom programme instead.
Officials reiterated that CUET is mandatory for all applicants. However, Class 12 board results will not impact admissions except for meeting passing requirements. Students were advised to rely solely on the DU website for updates and avoid external sources.
Understanding DU's Undergraduate Programmes
Delhi University offers 79 undergraduate programmes across its 69 affiliated colleges. All these programmes require CUET scores for admission. The university aims to streamline the admission process through this entrance test, ensuring a fair evaluation of candidates.
The webinar provided an opportunity for students and parents to interact directly with university officials. They addressed various queries, helping aspirants understand the nuances of the admission process better. This initiative reflects DU's commitment to transparency and effective communication with prospective students.
The session highlighted the importance of aligning CUET subject choices with Class 12 studies. This alignment ensures eligibility for desired courses and prevents future complications during admissions. The university's focus remains on guiding students accurately through each step of the application process.
Delhi University's approach underscores the significance of careful planning and attention to detail in university admissions. By adhering to guidelines and staying informed through official channels, students can navigate the admission process smoothly.
