Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra Reviews Conditions of Stray Cattle in Masoodpur Dairy Area

Delhi Development Minister Kapil Mishra led a significant meeting on Tuesday to assess the situation of stray cattle in Mehrauli's Masoodpur Dairy area. The gathering included local MLA Gajendra Singh and senior officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Delhi Development Authority, and the Development Department. The primary focus was on ensuring the welfare of abandoned cattle, according to an official statement.

Review of Stray Cattle in Masoodpur Dairy

The Delhi government, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is addressing the issue of stray cattle with seriousness, Mishra stated. He emphasised that cattle should have safe shelters and not wander the streets, as it concerns both animal rights and public safety. Stray cattle on roads pose traffic risks and disrupt civic life.

Stray Cattle Concerns

Mishra mentioned that the government is collaborating with relevant agencies to ensure these animals are housed properly and that dairy operations are conducted responsibly. MLA Gajendra Singh pointed out that many dairy operators in Masoodpur abandon cows once they stop producing milk, causing public inconvenience and poor conditions for the animals.

During the meeting, it was decided that dairy owners who adhere to regulations and care for their cattle will be eligible for benefits under various government schemes. Conversely, those who abandon their animals will face strict action. The statement also mentioned steps to ensure basic facilities like fodder and water for dairy units in the area.

Improving Dairy Sector

Mishra highlighted that supporting the dairy sector would not only enhance animal care but also improve dairy product quality and livelihoods. Better cattle management will help clear roads of stray animals and improve overall civic infrastructure.

The meeting underscored the importance of providing safe shelters for cattle to prevent them from roaming streets. This initiative aims to address both animal welfare and public safety concerns effectively.
